Project Name: Self Sufficient Community Based DUI Program Guidebook
Program Area: Transportation Safety

Project Overview:
Since the early 1980s, the federal government has encouraged States and local communities to create self-sufficient alcohol traffic safety programs, in order to consistently address impaired driving challenges at the local level. Federal publications in 1983 and 1995 provided detailed information to guide the development of self-sufficient alcohol traffic safety programs. However, such programs are not commonplace. This project dealt with the development of a Community Guidebook to encourage and support local efforts to develop and implement community level self-sufficient DWI programs, and will promote greater community participation in addressing impaired driving.
